How to spend one day in Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest and most diverse city. Here you have our recommendations if you have just one day to visit Auckland before grab a car and head out to the incredible natural spots that are around the city. 

1. Visit the Sky Tower 

This tower is more than 300 metres high. Offering you stunning views, along with great restaurants, a gift shop and an opportunity to push your limits by walking the outside of the viewing platforms, or by jumping off from 192 metres above Auckland’s CBD!

2. Visit Auckland Museum

Discover the history and culture of New Zealand through this memorial to those who sacrificed their lives in wartime. Inside, both contemporary and traditional exhibitions delve deep into the nation’s culture and heritage.

3. Head to the Art Galleries

New Zealand’s best collection of art includes a wide range of traditional Maori artwork as well as more contemporary styles. There are a variety of art galleries located along Parnell Road, they’re either free or a gold coin donation to get in.

4. Walk around Mission Bay 

You wouldn’t realise that you’re that short from the centre of New Zealand’s biggest city. Mission Bay is a beautiful waterfront suburb with stunning views.

5. Check out the View from Mount Eden

This is a great spot to end your one day tour in Auckland, specially at sunset on clear days. Mount Eden is a relatively easy volcano to get to and climb in Auckland. Climb to the top and enjoy amazing views of the whole of Auckland.
